Scouts are do-ers...
...and give-it-a-go-ers.
We question and listen and form wide open minds. We take a deep breath and speak up.
We think on our feet. See the big picture. Ignore the butterflies and go for it.
We get back up and try again. We think about what’s next, and plan for it. We jump in, get muddy, give back and get set.
We’re Scouts and everyone’s welcome here. All genders, races and backgrounds. Every week we give young people in Pimlico the skills they need for school, college, university, the job interview, the important speech, the tricky challenge and the big dreams: the skills they need for life.

Sounds fun? Worthwhile? It is. But don't just take our word for it. Take a look at what you could get up to below.
Our History
The 16th City of Westminster (St Gabriel's), Lady Pelham-Clinton's Own was formed in February of 1910 and formed with 5 patrols of 50 young people. In 1934 the Group adopted the blue necker with a white edge that we continue to wear to this day. Prior to that, the Cubs wore red neckers and the Scouts wore green ones.

Coronation

During the inaugural Coronation of King George VI in 1937, seven older member of our Scout Group were on duty with a further eleven Scouts and the Scoutmaster in the crowds supporting the event by selling programmes to the public.

World War 2

During the War, several member of the Scout Group supported the Civil Defence as messengers and moving information around the city. But that wasn't all the Scouts did, they put out a fire in Drapery Store on Warwick Way, caused by an incendiary bomb. Although the store was destroyed the Scouts helped stop the fire from spreading into the Chemists next door.
The War took its toll on the Group with 32 of our members going into the armed forces, with 7 of them losing their lives. However, 9 of our older Scouts were invested by Skipper Adams in April 1945 during his leave from France, and were then supporting the victory parade in 1946 along with the rest of the Scout Group.

2000s

The Group celebrated its centenary year in February 2010 and then in 2014 the Group paraded around West London District Scouts to salute Queen Elizabeth II at the Drumhead Service at The Royal Hospital Chelsea.

Today the Group is still part of West London District and is in the County of Greater London Middlesex West. We have three thriving sections, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and a Young Leader Unit where we give the older young people a chance to volunteer and become leaders with us. All of this is supported by our Executive Committee who support the leadership team across the section and focus on the governance of the Group. We are also sponsored by St Gabriel's Church in Pimlico, where our headquarters lie.
